The Ren Ellis Leather Story

Ren Ellis has soared to celebrity status for over 30 years with his unique leather fashion creations.

The Ren Ellis fashion leather label can be found in closets of celebrities such as Tina Turner, Burt Reynolds, Stevie Nicks, Ronald Reagan, Wayne Newton, Steven Segal and more – including leaders from all industries and walks of life.

Over the many successful years of custom leather design, department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Macys, Sacks 5th Ave and North Beach Leather have carried Ren Ellis leather clothing and leather accessories.

Ren Ellis has earned the prestigious "Texas Leather Designers” award. Moreover, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art has displayed one of Ren’s braided and fringed jackets as “wearable art”.

After designing for the best of the best, Ren Ellis took a 3 year sabbatical to play the blues in the famed band “Ellis Island”. Touring the U.S. and Mexico, Ren was exposed to more of the America’s – getting a deepened flavor that has forever influenced his soul and thus his work.

Currently, Ren is living and working in the lovely artist colony of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. He designs and plays blues at the local music clubs. He is married to the lovely Rebecca Fass and living the life with his Pug, English Bulldog, and Chihuahuas.

The Ren Ellis Label is now being run by Ren Ellis and newcomer and stepson John Vogel.

John Vogel is bringing in a New York City flavor to add to the already classic designs by Ren Ellis. Between the two of them, they are crossing the Southwestern leather flavor that Ren is known for, with ideas by John Vogel coming from New York City high fashion. John Vogel is working as an apprentice under Ren learning the ropes and helping now in new designs. As well the fact that the two have teamed up and opened the first Ren Ellis Leather store ever.
